Bolanle, the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has tried and failed to save her husband’s job.

According to a report published in The Punch Newspaper, the governor’s wife reportedly waylaid National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the APC mega rally in Osun state to plead with him to support her husband’s second term ambition.

However, Tinubu reportedly related with her cordially and joked with her but did not give her the assurance she was looking for.

At a point during the meeting, said to have been witnessed by other APC leaders in the state, the governor’s wife went emotional and broke down in tears while pleading with Tinubu for a change of heart.

“At a point , she became emotional despite the fact that many party leaders were there . But Asiwaju ( Tinubu ) did not give her the answer she desired. He merely treated her with courtesy,” The Punch quoted a source as saying.

The Tinubu-led Mandate Movement within the Lagos APC has withdrawn support from Ambode and endorsed a former commissioner in the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who formally declared his gubernatorial ambition on Sunday.

The 57 local government chairmen in the state have also thrown their support behind Sanwo-Olu ahead of next week’s gubernatorial primary in the state.
