The family of award-winning rapper AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, has issued a statement confirming his untimely death.

The statement, released on February 11, 2023, expresses the family’s sadness and grief, and confirms that they are awaiting further details from the Durban police regarding the circumstances of his passing.

“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son, and confirm his untimely and tragic passing on the evening of February 10, 2023,” the statement read.

“To us, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, most importantly father to his beloved daughter Kairo.”
