An Air Peace flight bound for Lagos was disrupted early Thursday morning following a bird strike shortly before takeoff at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. and prompted the aircraft to return to the ramp as a safety measure.

In a statement by Ejike Ndiulo, Air Peace’s head of corporate communications, the airline explained that all passengers on board safely disembarked following the incident.

“We wish to inform our esteemed passengers that our Abuja-Lagos 06:30 flight experienced a bird strike before take-off, prompting a ramp return as a safety measure. All passengers disembarked normally,” the airline said.

To minimize disruptions, Air Peace deployed a replacement aircraft to accommodate affected passengers and ensure their journey to Lagos continued with minimal delay.

The airline also apologized to passengers whose travel plans were impacted by the delay, as well as those on other flights who may experience schedule adjustments.

“At Air Peace, we are committed to providing safe, comfortable, and reliable air travel for all our passengers,” the statement concluded.
