Air Peace has announced the temporary suspension of all flights to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, citing safety concerns over the state of the airport’s runway.

The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, who emphasized that the move became necessary following ongoing disruptions caused by the runway condition.

“We regret to inform you that all flights scheduled to Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, are temporarily suspended due to safety concerns of the Enugu runway,” Ndiulo said.

He noted that the condition of the Enugu airport runway had increasingly affected the airline’s operations, leading to the decision to suspend services until further notice.

“At Air Peace, we prioritise safety first over convenience. We believe that if flights are not operated into this aerodrome for the next few days, it will allow FAAN the opportunity to perform the necessary repairs of the runway,” he added.

Okay.ng reports that while operations into Enugu are on hold, Air Peace flights will now be diverted to Asaba Airport in Delta State. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and assured passengers of its commitment to safety and operational excellence.
