Amaechi Muonagor, a veteran actor in the Nigerian film industry, has issued a heartfelt plea for financial assistance to undergo a kidney transplant in India.

The renowned actor has been battling kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke, and his condition has recently taken a turn for the worse, requiring urgent medical intervention.

In November 2023, Tony Muonagor, Amaechi’s cousin, revealed the actor’s health struggles, disclosing that he was undergoing weekly dialysis and physiotherapy at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi, Anambra.

Now, Amaechi’s illness has progressed, impacting his speech and necessitating a kidney transplant to improve his chances of recovery.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, fellow Nollywood actor Kingsley Orji shared the dire situation Amaechi faces and appealed to fans and well-wishers for financial support.

Orji disclosed that Amaechi recently left the teaching hospital due to financial constraints, underscoring the urgency of the situation and the need for immediate assistance.

“It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India,” Orji said.

He continued, “He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi teaching hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well. We decided to bring him home because there was no money but it is not advisable. He barely talks well. Please, he needs your help.”

The exact amount required for the transplant surgery was not disclosed, but Orji provided Amaechi’s account details and contact information for those willing to contribute to his medical expenses.
