According to a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission’s Public Relations Officer, Agbonika underwent a posting interview led by Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) mni, and other senior officials.

The Commission directed the new Commissioner to immediately address the state’s crime rate, with a particular focus on the recent killings. They emphasized that his handling of arrested suspects would be a key indicator of his success. Agbonika was also instructed to build public trust, engage with stakeholders, and ensure proper documentation and communication of his actions. He was further advised to utilize established Police Departments alongside tactical units.

CP Agbonika pledged to uphold the law and seek guidance from the Inspector General of Police. He brings 32 years of experience to the role, covering operations, investigations, administration, public information, and area/divisional police management.
