Abubakar Mahmoud Sworn in as 28th NBA President

The 56th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, on Friday came to a close with Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud SAN sworn in by the immediate past NBA President, Mr. Austine Alegeh SAN, as the 28th President of the association.

The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by the Governors of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike and Sokoto State, Alhaji Tambawal, as well as the past governor of Kano State, Alhaji Musa Kwakwanso.

In his acceptance speech, the new President commended the outgoing executive members led by Austine Alegeh, for several innovations that were introduced into the NBA, especially the universal e-voting by the NBA.

While performing his first official assignment, he sworn in his executive members who will together run the NBA for the next 2 years, and promised to pursue the overall national interest.

Mahmoud called on his opponent, JK Gadzama to join hands with him and work for the Bar, adding that he should learn from the action of former President, Goodluck Jonathan after the 2015 election.
