Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced the end of a decade-long freeze on staff promotions at Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic in Aba, previously known as Abia Polytechnic. The official lifting of the restriction was communicated through a statement released on Tuesday in Umuahia by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku.

The announcement included the immediate implementation of all outstanding promotions that had been delayed over the past ten years. Furthermore, Governor Otti has abolished the “National Promotions” system that was previously in place at the institution.

Staff members of the polytechnic expressed their appreciation to the governor for fulfilling his promise to settle the 33 months of unpaid salaries left by the previous administration. They also acknowledged his efforts in ensuring the regular and timely payment of their current salaries, as well as his initiatives to improve infrastructure and elevate the overall standards of the institution, according to Njoku’s statement.
