A coordinated operation by the Anambra State Joint Security Task Force (JTF) has resulted in the successful rescue of Reverend Father Stephen Echezona, who was abducted from Ichida in the Anaocha Local Government Area. The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the safe return of the cleric in a statement released on Sunday.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state’s police public relations officer, detailed that the JTF, a collaborative effort involving the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local Anambra Vigilance Group operatives, executed the rescue mission. The operation, which spanned Ichida and Ihiala, culminated in the Reverend Father’s release within Ihiala.
“This morning, March 23rd, a unified security team, pooling resources from various agencies, effectively secured the release of Rev. Fr. Stephen Echezona in Ihiala,” Ikenga stated. He further assured the public that the Reverend Father was recovered without sustaining any injuries. The successful operation highlights the collaborative efforts of the security forces in combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety of residents within the state.
