INEC chairman has debunked a claim that PDP was winning in 23 states. Addressing journalists Sunday evening Jega said he doesn’t know the source of information the person who made the claim, but added “results have not been collated in 23 states”. Jega urged reporters to be careful in reporting claims by people who are partisan.

Addressing journalists earlier on Sunday ,Femi-Fani-Kayode claimed that PDP was winning in 23 states.Fani-Kayode claimed, “As we speak now, we are winning in 23 states and we have 64 percent while the APC is winning in 14 states and has 36 percent. These results are subject to confirmation by the Independent National Electoral Commission. However, we are certain of what we are saying because we have information from our agents in every polling unit nationwide. No one must test our will by attempting to change these results and the APC should desist from pushing this nation
to the brink of fire, chaos and destruction with their dirty lies and propaganda.”

Jega confirmed that a local governmen office of INEC in Rivers State was torched.

He also said he was not under pressure to declare the elections inconclusive. Jega further confirmed that two states have collated results and many more were at an advanced stage. But he said the headquarters of commission would decide whether to commence collation later Sunday night or on Monday. Stakeholders would be briefed before INEC begins announcement at the national level he said.
