The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), marking a significant milestone for thousands of candidates across Nigeria. According to a statement from Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of Public Affairs at NECO, a total of 179,201 candidates registered to sit for the examination, which covered 12 subjects.

The examination period spanned from May 12 to May 23, 2025. The results announcement follows the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO’s headquarters in Minna. During the meeting, Dr. (Mrs) Folake David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education and chairperson of the Award Committee, expressed satisfaction with the integrity and transparency of the examination process.

The meeting was also attended by secondary school principals from across the country alongside NECO management officials, ensuring a broad representation in the finalization of results. In addition to releasing the results, the committee approved the timetable for the BECE Re-sit examinations, scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025, specifically for Mathematics and English Studies.

Okay.ng reports that this timely announcement offers clarity and direction for students awaiting their results and those who may need to re-sit key subjects to improve their performance.
