The Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC) has issued a fresh set of restrictions on Nigerian passport holders, introducing new hurdles for those seeking entry into the United Arab Emirates (UAE), especially under the tourist and transit visa categories.
According to an internal communication circulated by the DVPC, the UAE immigration authorities have suspended all transit visa applications and imposed age-based restrictions for Nigerians traveling alone.
The directive states that Nigerian nationals aged 18 to 45 years traveling alone are now ineligible for the tourist visa category. Applicants within this age bracket must either be accompanied or are required to meet additional conditions not yet disclosed.
In addition, Nigerians aged 45 years and above can still apply for a tourist visa, but only if they provide a single Nigerian personal bank statement covering the last six months. Each month’s statement must reflect a minimum closing balance of USD 10,000 or its equivalent in naira, estimated at about ₦15 million.
The update also confirms that the popular 3-night/4-day visa option has been completely stopped for Nigerians.
Key Points of the New Policy:
- No more transit visa applications will be accepted.
- Tourist visas will not be issued to solo Nigerian travelers aged 18–45 years.
- Applicants aged 45 and above must show bank statements with a monthly closing balance of at least USD 10,000 (or ₦15 million).
- The 3-night/4-day visa option is no longer available for Nigerian applicants.
The DVPC emphasized that applicants should review the new criteria before submitting any documentation, including hotel reservations and flight details.
Travel agents and visa applicants have been urged to take note of these changes to avoid unnecessary delays or rejections.
