Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze is facing an uncertain future at AC Milan following an underwhelming spell at the Serie A club. The 26-year-old Nigerian, who joined Milan from Villarreal in the summer of 2023, has struggled to cement a regular place in the starting lineup due to injuries and limited playing time. These challenges have led the Rossoneri to place him on the transfer list as they seek funds for a squad overhaul ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Chukwueze is among the key players expected to leave Milan during the summer. The club’s disappointing 2024/25 campaign, finishing eighth and missing out on European football, has prompted management to consider significant changes.
During his two seasons at Milan, Chukwueze has made 69 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing six assists. Despite flashes of his trademark flair, he has struggled to adapt fully to Serie A’s demands. Interest has reportedly come from Spanish La Liga side Real Betis, though Milan’s valuation of the winger remains higher than Betis’s current offer.
Chukwueze’s options include a return to La Liga, a potential move to the English Premier League, or staying at Milan to fight for a place under new manager Massimiliano Allegri. The latter scenario appears challenging, as Allegri reportedly does not favor the Nigerian winger, though a change in fortunes is possible with hard work.
Meanwhile, Milan is preparing to bring in a Portuguese winger as a replacement, signaling their intent to reshape the squad significantly. Talks with Betis and other clubs are ongoing but remain at an early stage.
