Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s lawyers have raised alarms over what they perceive as selective justice after the Federal Government filed criminal charges against the senator while ignoring twelve petitions she filed earlier this year.

According to a statement by her counsel, Uju Nwoduwu, the petitions lodged between March and May 2025 detail serious accusations such as cyberstalking, defamation, threats to life, and an alleged assassination plot. Despite these grave claims, the Nigeria Police Force and relevant security agencies have yet to take any action.

“The public expects law enforcement and prosecutorial bodies to uphold fairness, the rule of law, and impartial justice in all matters involving her,” the legal team stated.

They further highlighted that while Akpoti-Uduaghan’s complaints remain uninvestigated, counter-allegations from individuals she accused—including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Governor Yahaya Bello—have been promptly processed, culminating in criminal charges against her.

“This selective response raises deep concerns about biased enforcement of justice,” the statement said.

The petitions reportedly involve high-profile figures and serious incidents, including the abduction and attempted assassination of a protocol officer. Although currently abroad for personal engagements, Akpoti-Uduaghan has confirmed receipt of the charges and vowed to appear in court when summoned.

“She remains committed to due process,” her legal team assured, appealing for equal application of justice without fear or favour.
