An incident in the Ojo area of Lagos State has led to the arrest of a father, Kamoru Ojo, for allegedly causing the death of his 27-year-old daughter, Shakirat. The tragic event reportedly unfolded at their shared residence on Thursday, April 3, 2025, when a disciplinary action taken by Ojo allegedly escalated fatally.

Sources indicate that an altercation occurred between Ojo and Shakirat at their home, leading to the father physically disciplining his daughter. During this alleged beating, the 27-year-old woman reportedly lost consciousness and subsequently died.

In a desperate attempt to conceal the tragic outcome, Ojo is alleged to have taken the drastic step of digging a shallow grave within their residential compound. He then reportedly buried his daughter’s body in this makeshift grave.

The disappearance of Shakirat prompted concern and a subsequent search. When efforts to locate her proved unsuccessful, a formal alarm was raised at the Okokomaiko Division of the Lagos State Police Command. Acting on this report, homicide and crime scene investigators were dispatched to the scene. Their investigation led them to the discovery of Shakirat’s remains buried in the shallow grave within the compound of their residence.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the arrest of Kamoru Ojo in connection with the alleged crime. He stated that the victim’s body has been recovered from the shallow grave, exhumed, and transported to a public morgue for a post-mortem examination. Hundeyin further added that the suspect is currently in custody, and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Shakirat’s death is actively underway.
