Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has debunked viral reports on social media alleging that he collapsed last week, describing the rumours as politically driven fabrications aimed at scoring cheap points. Okay.ng reports.

The minister addressed the speculation on Thursday after inspecting four key projects in Abuja, including the International Conference Centre (ICC), where he reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his responsibilities in the nation’s capital.

“I don’t want to give credence to people who are only interested in carrying rumour,” Wike stated. “First of all, I’m a human being; it’s not a ghost that will collapse. It’s a human being that will collapse if there is any issue with their health. Unfortunately, I did not collapse.”

The unverified claims, which circulated widely on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), alleged that the former Rivers State governor collapsed during an event in Abuja last Friday and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

However, Wike made a public appearance just days later during a Sallah homage to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he appeared in high spirits—further putting to rest concerns over his wellbeing.

His special adviser on media, Lere Olayinka, had earlier dismissed the reports as false and malicious.
