Tinubu Condemns Uromi Killings, Orders Swift Investigation and Justice

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the brutal killing of travelling hunters who were reportedly intercepted and murdered by local vigilantes in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

In a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu described the act as “dastardly” and expressed shock over the senseless loss of lives.

Okay.ng reports that the President has directed the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to immediately launch a thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible face justice without delay.

“Criminals will not be allowed to shed the blood of innocent Nigerians in vain,” the President declared, while commiserating with the families of the victims.

President Tinubu further reaffirmed the constitutional right of all Nigerians to move freely across the country, stressing that jungle justice has no place in a civilised society.

“All Nigerians have the freedom to move freely in any part of the country,” he said, warning against unlawful and extrajudicial actions.

The President also commended the swift response of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and community leaders in Uromi, whose intervention helped prevent the situation from escalating into a larger crisis.
