Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has shared an Iftar meal with Muslim faithful at Jibowu Hall within the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, fostering a moment of shared reflection, prayers, and unity. The gathering, held during the holy month of Ramadan, emphasized the spirit of community and religious harmony.

Sources close to the governor’s office relayed that Oyebanji emphasized his administration’s unwavering dedication to building a peaceful and unified Ekiti, where every resident, regardless of their religious beliefs, feels a profound sense of belonging. He reportedly underscored the importance of interfaith dialogue and mutual respect, noting that such gatherings were crucial for cultivating a harmonious environment.

Attendees at the Iftar recounted that Governor Oyebanji spoke of the significance of Ramadan as a time for spiritual reflection and community building. He was said to have reiterated the government’s resolve to ensure that all citizens, irrespective of their religious background, felt valued and included in the state’s development. The governor reportedly stressed that the Iftar was not merely a meal, but a symbol of the government’s commitment to bridging gaps and promoting understanding among diverse communities.

Furthermore, the governor used the occasion to call for continued peaceful coexistence and urged residents to embrace the values of tolerance and compassion, which are central to the Ramadan period. He was quoted as saying that his administration would continue to prioritize initiatives that promote unity and peaceful coexistence, ensuring that Ekiti remains a model for religious harmony in Nigeria.

The event is a testament to the governor’s efforts to create a state where religious differences are celebrated as a strength rather than a point of division. Participants expressed their appreciation for the governor’s gesture, noting that it reinforced their sense of belonging and affirmed the government’s commitment to creating an inclusive and harmonious society.
