U.S. President Donald Trump has raised concerns over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s willingness to pursue peace, suggesting that Ukraine views U.S. involvement as leverage in negotiations.

His remarks came following a White House meeting on Friday, where he shared his observations in a post on Truth Social.

Trump stated that the discussion with Zelensky was revealing, indicating that critical insights emerged only through direct conversation under pressure.

“We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure,” he wrote.

He went on to claim that Zelensky may not be fully committed to seeking peace as long as the U.S. remains involved.

“It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations,” Trump added.

The U.S. president emphasized that his primary focus is securing peace rather than offering one side an upper hand. “I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE,” he asserted.

He also took issue with Zelensky’s conduct during their meeting, stating, “He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for peace.”
