Bello El-Rufai, eldest son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has debunked rumors that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided his residence in Kaduna and discovered large sums of money and illicit drugs.

The rumors alleged that the EFCC found $800 million, N700 billion in cash, and N1 trillion worth of drugs during a raid on his property.

However, Bello dismissed the claims as “false” and an attempt to tarnish his reputation and distract him from his public service duties.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Bello clarified that he does not own a house in Kaduna and stated that his family residence is located in Unguwar Sarki.

“My constituents that I represent know what would happen if I was blessed with such figures,” he said, emphasizing the implausibility of the allegations.

Bello further accused unnamed individuals of using fake news to manipulate public perception and undermine his political career.

He described the allegations as defamatory and an affront to justice and fairness.

“For those sponsoring these ignorant attacks, I assure you that we will continue to serve the people, and we will continue to enjoy how it annoys them. Quality, frank, and honest representation is here to stay in Kaduna North,” he added.

“The use of fake news to manipulate public perception and instigate discord, stressing the attempt to connect him to illicit activities through unfounded allegations was not only defamatory but an affront to the principles of justice and fairness.”
