An explosion has reportedly occurred at the home of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Enugu State.
The bomb went off at the home of Tony Eze leaving several people injured, Vanguard reports.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 5pm on Monday, March 16 in the Udi Local Government Area of the state.
“The Enugu State command of the Nigeria Police Force through its operatives have commenced a full scale investigations into an incident of explosion at Amokwe Udi in udi local Government Area of Enugu state on Monday by 5pm with a view to finding out the possible cause of the sudden explosion,” Police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu said confirming the incident.
“Meanwhile, instant analysis of the incident by the operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Department on ground at the scene of the explosion revealed that it was occasioned by high calibre pyrotechnics (fireworks) in a large quantity packed in the house of the owner that exploded,” Amaraizu said.
The spokesperson also said that the injured persons had been taken to hospitals for treatment.
