Terrorists have released the two children of Dr. Tiri Gyang, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State, who was killed during a kidnapping incident on July 2, 2024. The children, Caleb and Derrick, were held captive for 37 days before being released after a ransom was paid.

According to sources, the terrorists initially demanded an N20m ransom, but later requested additional payment in the form of two motorcycles and N200,000 mobile recharge cards to secure the release of the eldest child, Derrick.

In a related incident, Mallam Garba Funtua, the father of another kidnapped victim, Aishab Garba, was killed by the terrorists after paying a N2m ransom for his daughter’s release.

The terrorists had demanded an additional N5m, unaware that Funtua had already been killed.
