The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has sternly warned protesters against flying the Russian flag, describing it as a treasonable offense.

The warning comes as protesters in some northern states have been spotted waving the Russian flag during the ongoing #EndBadGovernance demonstrations, which entered its fifth day.

General Musa emphasized that flying foreign flags within Nigeria’s sovereignty is unacceptable and will be treated as a serious offense. He noted that most of those flying the flags are children being sponsored, and security agencies are taking action against the sponsors.

The Chief of Defence Staff reiterated the resolve of security agencies to defend Nigeria’s democracy and warned against any attempts to push for a change in government through undemocratic means.

Okay.ng understands that the protests, which began on August 1, have seen Nigerians demand government attention to the country’s economic challenges, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the devaluation of the naira.

Despite President Bola Tinubu’s appeal for dialogue, the protests have continued, with some turning violent and resulting in looting and destruction.
