The Borno State Government, in collaboration with heads of security agencies, has announced a temporary relaxation of the curfew imposed in the state to facilitate the observance of Friday (Jumaat) congregation prayers by the Muslim community.

This was disclosed by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Daso Nahun, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement released on Friday.

The curfew will be relaxed from 12 pm to 3 pm, allowing Muslims to attend Jumaat prayers at mosques within their local communities.

Nahun clarified that the curfew would resume from 3 pm today and remain in effect until 6 am on Saturday.

Residents are urged to continue their lawful activities while avoiding any forms of violence. Nahun assured the public of the security forces’ commitment to protecting lives and property and emphasized ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the state.

“This decision comes after a series of incidents in the state, including protests, IED explosions, and culpable homicide,” Nahun said.

“The government and security agencies are working to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.”
