The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has strongly condemned the recent suicide bombings in Gwoza, Borno State, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives and injuries to many. The IGP extended his condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly the families and loved ones of the victims.

In response to the attacks, the IGP has deployed additional personnel and resources to Borno State to enhance security, prevent further attacks, and reassure residents of their safety and security. The Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army EOD Unit, is conducting clearance operations to ensure that no further threats exist in Borno State or its neighboring states.

The IGP reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to working with the military and other security agencies, as well as stakeholders, to combat all forms of criminal and violent attacks in the country. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.

Additionally, the IGP has ordered the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Department to intensify intelligence gathering across the country for more effective anti-crime operations.
