The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has alerted Nigerians to a fraudulent scheme where a scammer is impersonating him on WhatsApp using the phone number +234 707 743 7582. The impersonator is using the minister’s image to deceive unsuspecting individuals.

According to a statement released by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, the minister is not associated with the phone number or any communication sent from it. The minister has urged the public to disregard any correspondence or communication supposedly from him through the said contact number.

The matter has been reported to security agents, who are working to apprehend the culprit. The minister’s office has assured Nigerians that they are taking necessary steps to prevent further fraudulent activities.

Nigerians are advised to be cautious and verify the authenticity of any communication purporting to be from the minister or his office before responding or taking any action.
