The six governors of the South-West geo-political zone convened in Lagos on Monday, appointing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State as the new Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.

The meeting took place at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, in the office of Governor Sanwo-Olu. Following three hours of deliberation, a communique was issued.

In a briefing with state house correspondents after the meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced his appointment as the new chairman, succeeding the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

Sanwo-Olu expressed his commitment to leading the forum but remained silent on the ongoing minimum wage controversy between the Federal Government and Organised Labour, noting that the governors await the outcome of the negotiations.

Attendees included Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Luky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.
