The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned ruling on the bail application of Bello Bodejo, the detained leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore group, until May 30. Bodejo is accused of unlawfully establishing an ethnic militia group to promote terrorism and has been in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Abuja.

His counsel, Ahmed Raji, moved the application for his bail, citing various grounds including ill health and fundamental rights. However, the Federal Government, through its counsel, opposed the bail application, arguing that the charges against Bodejo border on a threat to national security.

After hearing arguments from both parties, Justice Inyang Ekwo fixed May 30 for ruling on the bail application. Bodejo’s case has been a subject of interest, with the Miyetti Allah leader suing the Federal Government over alleged prolonged detention. His arraignment over the alleged creation of a militia group has also been a significant development in the case.
