Nigeria’s Super Eagles are gearing up for a pivotal clash against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying game scheduled to take place in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on June 7.

The highly anticipated match, set to unfold at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, marks the third encounter of the 2026 World Cup qualifying series for both teams.

With the Super Eagles currently holding two points from their previous two matches, they are keenly aware of the significance of securing a victory against their South African counterparts.

Brimming with confidence, the African vice-champions are optimistic about clinching all three points, which could propel them to the top of the pool standings.

Nigeria’s recent track record against South Africa further bolsters their confidence, particularly after their triumph over the Bafana Bafana in the 34th Africa Cup of Nations.

On February 7th, at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, the Super Eagles clashed with South Africa, emerging victorious and relegating the Bafana Bafana to the third-place match.

Despite South Africa managing to level the score late in the game, Nigeria’s South Africa-based goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, proved instrumental in securing victory during the penalty shootout, saving two crucial kicks from the Bafana Bafana.
