Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have apprehended a suspected kidnapper linked to the abduction and tragic murder of Nabeeha, the daughter of a Bwari-based lawyer.

The arrest follows the harrowing incident where bandits abducted 19 individuals from the Sagwari Estate Layout in the Dutsen-Alhaji area, demanding a staggering N700 million ransom for nine of their victims.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Bello Mohammed from Zamfara state, was captured during a raid on a Kaduna hotel on January 20th. The Divisional Police Officer of Tafa Division, acting on intelligence, discovered Mohammed with a sum of N2.25 million believed to be ransom money. Under interrogation, Mohammed confessed to his involvement in the gang responsible for the kidnapping on January 2nd.

The police statement revealed that Mohammed admitted to the gang’s gruesome actions, including the killing of Nabeeha and other hostages in a camp in Kaduna State on January 13th. Shockingly, he offered a bribe of N1 million to the DPO, SP Idris Ibrahim, who steadfastly rejected the inducement and proceeded with the arrest.

In a dramatic turn of events, Mohammed also disclosed the participation of five bandits already neutralized by the police in Kaduna. Their camp, known for its deadly activities, was subsequently destroyed.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the IRT in Abuja for further investigations. Mohammed is currently cooperating with the police, assisting in inquiries that aim to apprehend other accomplices involved in the heinous act.

Commending the dedication and professionalism of the DPO, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun assured the public that the police would spare no effort in dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the security of Nigerian society.
