The Super Eagles of Nigeria face a potential goalkeeping crisis as Stanley Nwabali, their custodian, is set to undergo a scan to assess the severity of the knee injury he sustained during the thrilling encounter against Cameroon.

Nwabali’s injury occurred after a collision with Cameroon winger Georges Nkoudou, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming quarter-final clash against Angola.

The incident forced Nwabali to be stretchered off the pitch in the 80th minute of the match.

Francis Uzoho of Omonia Nicosia stepped in as Nwabali’s replacement for the remaining minutes of the game against Cameroon.

However, the extent of Nwabali’s injury remains uncertain, pending the outcome of the forthcoming medical scan.

With just a week remaining until the crucial quarter-final fixture against Angola, the Super Eagles are hopeful that Nwabali’s injury is not severe enough to rule him out of contention.

Nonetheless, the team’s medical staff will closely monitor his recovery process in the coming days.

The Super Eagles secured their spot in the quarter-finals after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Round of 16 encounter.
