Spotify, the global music streaming platform, has rolled out fresh updates on its dedicated Afrobeats site, offering enthusiasts a deep dive into the most streamed Afrobeats tracks, albums, and artists in 2023.

The site, launched earlier in the year, has become a central hub celebrating the global influence and African roots of Afrobeats.

Afrobeats, a genre with roots deeply embedded in African culture, has experienced exponential growth and global acceptance.

Spotify’s latest update showcases the significant milestones achieved by Afrobeats artists, from Rema’s historic feat of surpassing a billion streams with “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez to Grammy recognition and headline performances at iconic venues worldwide.

Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, Spotify’s Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, expressed delight in spotlighting Afrobeats artists and their contributions to the genre’s growth.

She stated, “The tenacity, musical prowess, and accomplishments of Afrobeats artists bring pride to the African continent and are worthy of celebration. Spotify is delighted to spotlight Afrobeats artists who are breaking boundaries as catalysts of growth for the Afrobeats genre.”

The latest updates reveal Davido as the most streamed Afrobeats artist in 2023, with his track “Unavailable” claiming the top spot for the most streamed Afrobeats tracks.

Rema’s album, “Rave and Roses Ultra,” emerged as the most streamed Afrobeats album in 2023.
