Renowned record producer, Olumide Ogunade, popularly known as ID Cabasa, has shed light on a surprising aspect of the music industry, revealing that many Nigerian artists who are parents don’t endorse their children listening to their own music.

In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu, ID Cabasa shared insights into the reasons behind this trend.

According to him, the explicit lyrical content in their songs is a major factor, and many artists are driven by the necessity to make ends meet rather than a passion for their craft.

“I can tell you that most artists in Nigeria that you see, they don’t want their kids to actually listen to their own songs. And don’t blame them,” Cabasa stated.

He refrained from placing blame solely on the artists, pointing out that external factors, particularly music executives who fund the industry, play a significant role in shaping the content artists produce.

“A lot of us are doing this thing [music] for survival. So, the question is how do you balance who you are with who they [music executives] want you to be?” Cabasa added.
