President Bola Tinubu hosted a meeting with His Royal Majesty Omon’Oba N’Edo Uku’Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, at the State House on Friday. The purpose of the visit remains unknown, although there are speculations that it aims to formally congratulate the new president on assuming office and discuss matters concerning the Nigerian people.

In May, the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, was appointed by the Federal Government as the Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria. During a courtesy visit by the university’s management to the Oba in Benin City, Edo State, Prof Olufemi Peters, the Vice Chancellor, expressed confidence that the institution’s prospects would improve under the Oba’s guidance.

In response, the Oba expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Commander-in-Chief, for appointing him as the Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria. He emphasized his intention to contribute his experience in overseeing the affairs of the institution
