Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti, voluntarily turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in the early hours of Monday morning.

This follows an arrest order issued after a viral video showed Kuti allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Pictures of Kuti in handcuffs were shared by the command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, via his Twitter page.

The arrest order came in response to the widely circulated video that captured the incident, causing significant concern among the public.

In the video, Seun Kuti was seen allegedly assaulting a police officer in uniform, which prompted swift action from the authorities.

Recognizing the seriousness of the allegations, Kuti chose to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and presented himself at the police command alongside his lawyer and a family representative.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin took to Twitter to provide an update, stating, “Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in the company of his lawyer and family representative. He has been placed under arrest in line with the law.”

Acknowledging the public’s concern, SP Benjamin Hundeyin expressed gratitude for the support and affirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to conduct a thorough, transparent, and professional investigation.
