As the 2023 general election commences tomorrow 25th February 2023, it is important for eligible voters to know the procedures for casting their votes.

Here is a step-by-step guide to the voting process:

  1. Polling Unit: On election day, head to your designated polling unit where you will be able to cast your vote. Make sure you arrive early as voting is scheduled to start at 8:30am.
  2. Voter Register: Once you get to your polling unit, check the voter register to confirm that your name is listed. This is important to ensure you are eligible to vote.
  3. Accreditation: After confirming your eligibility, proceed to the accreditation center. Here, you will be given a ballot paper once you have been accredited.
  4. Voting Area: After accreditation, you can either stay or leave the polling unit. If you decide to stay, make sure to stay at least 300 meters away from the voting area so that you can witness the vote sorting and counting process.
  5. PVC Authentication: Present your Permanent Voter Card (PVC) for accreditation using the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). You will be authenticated using either your fingerprint or facial recognition.
  6. Casting Your Vote: After authentication, proceed to the voting cubicle where you will be able to cast your vote in secret. Be sure to read the instructions on the ballot paper carefully before marking your choice. Once you have marked your choice, drop the ballot paper into the ballot box.

It is important to follow these procedures to ensure a smooth voting process. It is also important to conduct yourself in a peaceful and orderly manner throughout the voting process.
