Promotions in Nigerian Army: 122 officers elevated to Major General, Brigadier General

The Army Council has approved the promotion of 122 senior officers in recognition of their meritorious service to the nation.

52 brigadier generals have been promoted to the rank of major general, while 70 colonels have been promoted to the rank of brigadier general.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, made the announcement in a statement.

Among those promoted to the rank of Major General are AA Ayanuga, BrEH Akpan, NM Jega, JO Ugwuoke, PAO Okoye, EF Oyinlola, AA Adekeye, AE Edet, AB Mohammed, Commander Guards Brigade Muhammed Usman, IM Abdullahi, AO Agboola, EE Emekah, HE Nzan, LA Lebo, UT Otaru, and AU Obiwulu.

Some of the colonels promoted to the rank of brigadier general are AO Ajagbe, JO Ogbobe, MG Hammawa, SS Bello, SOG Aremu, NG Mohammed, OI Odigie, CA Osuagwu, MO Eteng, and ED Idima.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, congratulated the promoted officers and their families, and charged them to remain focused, selfless, and loyal in their service to the nation.
