No fewer than 10 people have been burnt to death in a tanker explosion at Araromi on Lagos-Ibadan limited-access highway on Thursday morning.

The sectoral commander, federal street protection Corps in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, showed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Umar stated that the coincidence passed off around Conoil in Araromi before Sagamu Interchange at the parkway.

According to him, 5 vehicles have been burnt inside the raging inferno.

He stated that victims of the accidents have been burnt past recognition.

In line with the accident explained that, the automobiles concerned in the accident are: a Mack truck marked AKL 198 ZT; an Iveco truck with no registration number; a Mazda bus marked FFE 361 XB, an unmarked Howo truck and the Mack tanker.

He attributed the cause of the twist of fate to speeding with the aid of the motive force of the Iveco truck.

He introduced that the deceased was taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo college teaching hospital Sagamu.

Umar, after leaving the scene of the coincidence, commiserated with the families of the victims.

He counseled motorists to drive carefully, obey visitors regulations and policies, and as nicely keep in mind different street users while plying the roads.

Earlier, FRSC had recommended motorists and public to use opportunity routes on Lagos-Ibadan limited-access highway because of the tanker explosion that occured at Araromi town earlier.

Umar stated: “The rescue operation continues to be on and people worried have been yet to be confirmed because a bus is also involved.

“The crash scene changed into cordoned off to keep away from a secondary crash as other roads users attention had been diverted.

“The fire service corps arrived at the scene and attempted to put out the fire. Traffic has been quickly diverted at Lufuwape U-turn to ease the traffic state of affairs,” he said.

The sector commander suggested motorists to remain calm and cooperate with traffic managers controlling the situation,” he said.
