The leadership of the House of Representatives has resolved to invite the minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed; Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele; Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and other stakeholders over the crises in the aviation sector and the face-off between the federal government and Emirates Airline.

Okay.ng recalls that the leading aviation company had announced that it will suspend all flights to Nigeria from 1st September 2022.

The planned meeting was made known in a statement issued yesterday by the Clerk to the House of Representatives, Dr Yahaya Dan Zaria.

According to the statement, the meeting was for the lawmakers to intervene in the ongoing crisis with a view to resolving the face-off between the Federal Government and some international airline operators.

The statement further revealed that the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, has requested the chairman House Committee on Aviation, Nnolim Nnaji, and House of Representatives management to immediately set a date for the meeting with all stakeholders in the aviation sector and the executive arm of government to find urgent solutions to the issues in contention.

“The date of the meeting would be communicated to all the concerned stakeholders and organizations,” the statement said.

The statement further informed that the Speaker has pleaded with all parties in the matter, specifically, the Emirates airlines, to suspend any action and await the outcome of the meeting.
