A former Lagos State governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has asked Nigerians to obtain their voter cards and ensure that they send the President Goodluck Jonathan-led government packing during the February 14 election.

Tinubu, who addressed victims of the post-election crisis in Kaduna on Monday, said the country was currently being confronted with challenges which only patriotic men and women could solve.

The former governor, who made a personal donation of N10m to the victims, mostly widows, said poverty had no religion or tribal marks.

Speaking while making the donation, Tinubu said the money was his personal contribution to the sympathetic condition of the victims, adding that the donation had nothing to do with the APC account.

He said, “I am making a personal donation of N10m to Kaduna crisis victims, it is not from APC account, it is from me to you so that it can cushion your suffering.

“Please, vote for APC. Let’s strike a deal; are you ready to vote for APC and not to vote PDP? Please, say yes, if you agreed to vote for APC during the election.

“Just make sure you go and struggle to obtain voter cards and vote out the PDP in 2015. Poverty knows no religion. Suffering wears no tribal marks.

“The only way we can free ourselves is to send the government of Goodluck Jonathan away come February 2015.”

The vice presidential candidate of the APC, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, donated hundreds of bags of rice and other food items to the victims.

At the event, which held in Kaduna shortly after the APC presidential candidate, Maj.-Gen Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign rally on Monday, Osinbajo prayed that the state would never witness such wanton destruction of lives and property again.
