Godswill Akpabio has reacted to the court ruling in Calabar ordering a re-run in Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial district.

The court on Saturday sacked Christoper Ekpenyong of the PDP after being declared as winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The appellate court asked INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Ekpenyong and conduct a fresh election within 90 days.

Akpabio through his Twitter handle expressed his gratitude to God and said the ruling is a victory for democracy.

“Today’s Appeal Court Judgement is a victory for democracy. Let me say that, I am grateful to God and my people for always standing by me.

“I will never take your support for granted,” he said.
