IGP decorates seven newly appointed DIGs in Abuja

Adamu Mohammed, Acting Inspector-General of Police IGP on Monday decorated the newly appointed Deputy-Inspectors General (DIGs) of Police at a colourful ceremony in Abuja.

The event held at the Peace Keeping Hall, Force Headquarters Abuja was attended by notable dignitaries which included past Inspectors-General of Police, serving ministers and senior Police officers.

The newly appointed and decorated DIGs include Usman Abubakar (Kebbi), Yakubu Jibril (Nasarawa), Taiwo Lakanu (Lagos), Usman Yakubu (Niger), Chijioke Nwobodo(Enugu) Sumaila Karaya (Taraba) and Obizi Micheal (Cross-River).

The IGP while decorating the newly promoted officers to their new ranks said that they had worked hard and toiled day and night to ensure security of lives of Nigerians in the past three decades.

He further stated that the new officers are of the best quality in terms of intelligence and competence on the job of policing and added that the new Police administration would always identify professional and intellectual minds in the force.

Also in his remarks, Chairman of the Police Service Commission Mr Musliu Smith said that the new crop of DIGs are square pegs in square holes.

He said that the Police Service Commission would continue to support the new Inspector-General of Police and his management team.

The retired Police boss said that the commission which he superintends will continue to give selfless service to Nigeria.
