The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that it would approach the Appeal Court to challenge the ruling by a Federal High Court in Ekiti that the commission cannot investigate state finances.
Responding to the decision by the court, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said the ruling was an error and cannot stand the test of time.
The anti-graft agency stated that it would prove in the court of law that it had the powers to investigate state finances.
He said: “The commission has applied for a certified true copy of the ruling of the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti.
“We will study it and avail ourselves of the right of appeal. The EFCC is confident that the judgment cannot stand.”
