Former US Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has portrayed Patience Jonathan, wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, as being arrogant when she was first lady.

Campbell also described her as flamboyant.

The former US envoy, in a piece, wondered how Mrs Jonathan became wealthy having spent most of her life as a civil servant.

He made this known in an article titled ‘Nigerian President Buhari’s Sisyphean Efforts’.

He said, “Patience Jonathan as the first lady was flamboyant, arrogant, and widely disliked. She has yet to be convicted of a crime. However, it is curious how a person who spent most of her career in public service could accumulate an acknowledged $35 million in a poor country.”

Jonathan’s wife is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The anti-graft agency, through a court order, has frozen four bank accounts belonging to her.

Also, some property belonging to her have been seized.
