Odion Ighalo who opened the flood gates of goals for the Super Eagles in their 4-0 thrashing of Cameroon on Friday said he will be fit for the return leg of the World Cup qualifier in Yaounde on Monday.

Ighalo Ighalo who was making a comeback to the team after a long absence latched on to a pass from captain John Obi Mikel, shook off his marker and tucked the ball into the net. But in the second half he called on the bench to make a change as he clutched his hamstring muscle.

‘’I was feeling tight on my hamstring, that’s why I didn’t want to force it. We were winning 3-0 then.’’

‘’I am okay and will be ready for our next game against Cameroon.’’

At 28, Jude Odion Ighalo, who plies his trade in China is definitely approaching the twilight of his career and could be in dire danger of not having a taste of the World Cup experience if the Eagles fail in their bid for a ticket to Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup. And he is very conscious of that. With this in mind, Ighalo said he won’t joke with his chances in the national team’s bid for Russia 2018 ticket.

“I have been to the junior World Cup and never been to the senior World Cup, that is why I am hungry to be at the senior World Cup for the first time,” Ighalo told our correspondent at Le Meridien Uyo camp of the Super Eagles Saturday.

He said it is gong to be war in Cameroon on Monday as the Indomitable Lions will not want to fall before their fans.

“We are going to approach the game the same way we approached Saturday’s match because this is a massive step to the World Cup. It is not over yet because we still need three or so points to seal our qualification.

“We are going there with the same mentality and the same approach.” He reiterated his motivation for his latest form for the the national team.

“For the team, there can be no other  motivation than going to the World Cup but for me, I want to go to the senior World Cup. That  is why I want to give 105 per cent whenever I am fielded.”
