Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the under-listed programmes in Lagos State University Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies.

2.0      OBJECTIVES:
The major objective of the Certificate programmes in Fisheries and Aquaculture, is to produce proficient persons with good knowledge of Fisheries and aquaculture to employ themselves and be in positions of employers of labor and thereby satisfying the manpower, required at National and Continental levels in Fisheries, Aquaculture and allied disciplines for economic development. In addition, it will enhance the employability of those who may not be entrepreneurs.

This Certificate will qualify candidates for funding schemes. There are opportunities for LASU graduates, who possess any of these certificates, to access START-UP FUNDS of the LAGOS STATE GRADUATE SUPPORT SCHEME and other funding agencies.

3.0      TARGET AUDIENCE:
The certificate courses are designed to empower the following categories of candidates

- Advertisement -

 

    • Graduates from any field of study

 

    • Trawl fisheries operators

 

    • Port captains

 

- Advertisement -

    • Operation managers

 

    • Processing plant managers and supervisors

 

    • Fish importers and exporters

 

    • Local Fish traders

 

    • Fish farm owners, managers and supervisors

 

    • Civil Servants (extension officers in local, State and Federal Government)

 

    • Would-be investors in fisheries and aquaculture

 

    • Potential entrepreneurs at retirement / Retirees

 

    • Fish feed manufacturers and marketers

 

    • Facility inspectors

 

    • Trainers of hands-on manpower

 

  • Legislators and decision makers

4.0      AVAILABLE CERTIFICATE COURSES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

CERTIFICATE COURSES ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
a Certificate in Fisheries and Aquaculture Value Chain ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
b Certificate in Industrial Fisheries Operation ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
c Certificate in Artisanal Fisheries Operation and Management ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
d Certificate in Aquatic Food Processing ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
e Certificate in Local and International Fish Business ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
f Certificate in Fish Feed Production and Management ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
g Certificate in Environmental Management in Fisheries and Aquaculture ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
h Certificate in Fish Fingerlings Production, Marketing and Distribution ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
i Certificate in Shrimp and Prawn Aquaculture: ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
j Certificate in Aquatic Product Business ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
k Certificate in Brood-Stock Development and Management ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
l Certificate in Public Private Partnership (PPP)   in Fisheries and Aquaculture ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
m Certificate in Fish health management ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
n Certificate in Ornamental fish business ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
o Certificate in Fish Farming Business ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
p Certificate in Fish Farm Clusters and Fish Terminal management ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
q Certificate in Water quality analysis and management ND, NCE, HND, University Degree. SSCE with relevant experience may be considered.
  • 4.1      ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

4.2      MODE AND TIME OF LECTURE:
Lectures shall be held on eight (8) consecutive Saturdays (2 months). Lectures shall include practical-oriented interactive sessions and field trips.

4.3      MODE OF EXAMINATION:
Assessment of students’ performance shall be by report writing and oral seminar presentation (including a business plan/model in the chosen area).

5.0      METHOD OF APPLICATION

5.1      LATE APPLICATION:
Late application may be entertained. Application costs Ten Thousand Naira (N10, 000.00) only.

5.2      ACCEPTANCE FEE:
Acceptance fee is Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only, non-refundable, payable into LASU Account.

5.3      SCHOOL FEE:
The School fee is Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) only payable into LASU Account.

6.0      CLOSING DATE:
Closing Date of Application is Four (4) weeks from the date of this publication.
