The Kwara State Youths Stakeholders Forum (KYSF) has threatened to initiate the recall process for Senate President Bukola Saraki.

The youth organisation pointed to the ongoing conflict between the Senate and the presidency as the reason for considering taking such an action.

Saraki is accused to placing his personal goals over and above the interest of the public.

According to them, the impasse is negatively affecting the masses as governance at the federal level is being hindered.

These are contained in a statement signed by its president, Charles Olufemi Folayan, the deputy president, Ahmed Alanamu, and the secretary, Abolarin Olusola.

The statement said, “We are cognizant of the separation of powers in a democratic government, but it is shocking to see the Legislative and Executive arms of Government formed by the same political party playing opposition between themselves in the name of separation of powers.

“Sadly, bills of public interest such as Local Government Autonomy Bill and other bills that will make direct impact on the people have not yet received adequate attention from the Senate.”

“We are disappointed that despite the economic recession, which demands urgent attention, the Senate leadership has been paying more attention to swarming courtrooms for Code of Conduct Tribunal trial, Customs boss’ uniform and debates on the recalling of an individual senator.”

The group called on the Senate to get behind the presidency as the administration works toward getting the country out of the economic recession it is suffering through.

A failure on the part of the Senate to this, they said, would leave them no choice but to recall the senator.
“We hereby advise him to realise that he is there to serve the good people of Nigeria, adjust his ways and prioritise the interest of Nigerians above ego and personal political ambition.”
