Ocholi, who hailed from Kogi State, died in an auto crash which also claimed his wife and eldest son on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. Since his demise, Buhari has not appointed a new minister from the state. No reason has also been given for the President’s refusal to replace the dead ex-minister.

Melaye told senators during plenary that since Ocholi’s death, Kogi State had been  denied representation in the federal cabinet.

Also speaking in support of Melaye’s petition, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, described it as an important point.

He added that: “What affects one state affects the rest of us.”
