DOGARAThe Speaker of the House of Representatives, said on Sunday that the emergency of Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu as the Governor-Elect of Ondo State meant that the All Progressives Congress remained a popular political party loved by Nigerians.

Dogara stated this in a message to congratulate Akeredolu.

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association had polled 237,812 votes to beat his closest rival, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The results were announced by the Chief Returning Officer appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Abdul Ganiyu-Ambali.

Dogara also said the victory was an indication that Nigerians trusted the APC and its policies to transform Nigeria.

Part of a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, read, “The election of Akeredolu and the APC in Ondo state is a clear indication of the popularity of our political party.

“I would like to congratulate my learned colleague on his victory at the poll, and also commend our great party, the All Progressives Congress, for a thorough and successful campaign.”
