Sixteen natives of Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State currently under the siege of Boko Haram insurgents have been arrested by police on suspicion of being members of the militant sect.

Reports indicate that the arrested persons who had become Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) following the annexation of their town mid last year were heading for Lagos.

The arrested persons had reportedly boarded a luxurious bus belonging to a popular transport company before one of them alighted from the bus and entered a local beer parlour to take beer before commencing the journey.

However, some people at the joint suspected him to be a Boko Haram member when they noticed that the key holder he was using was an empty bullet shell, sparking suspicion that he may be a member of the dreaded sect. This led to his arrest.

Upon interrogation by police, he said they were 16 heading for Lagos to look for means of livelihood following the annexation of their town by Boko Haram insurgents.

The manager of the company Mr. I. K. Ekwuruke, confirmed the incident.

Following the annexation of territories of Adamawa State by the insurgents, many people especially youths, have been travelling out of the state to connect with friends and relatives outside the state to begin a new life.
